How I Pack a Truck Bed for Camping and Still Have Room
Soft bags against the cab, hard bins, last-out first-in. The 36-inch griddle only if the bed is supposed to be a kitchen.

Field notes — I write these in first person, from how I actually pack. Photos go in when I have them.
Photo slot — A packed bed with room along one side, not Tetris to the rails. I will drop a picture in when I have one that is not a stock shot.
I pack a lane, not a cube
I want to reach the cooler without unloading the tent. Soft stuff forward. Fuel upright and vented like the can says. Nothing sharp on a sleeping bag.
If the 36-inch station is in the bed, I have already decided this trip is a cookout. I do not also pretend I have room for two kayaks and a dog crate.
Rain plan for the bed
A tonneau or a tarp I can actually tie. Wet firewood under a leak is on me.
Quick answers
Is this a complete packing list?
No. This is what I actually do for this situation. Use a full checklist for the boring essentials, then add or subtract from this note.
